Student Exchange Program

The Students Exchange Program of the Bible Students Fellowship of Bangladesh (BSFB) is an international discipleship and leadership development initiative that has been running in partnership with NKSS Laget (Norway) since 2019. Through this program, BSFB and NKSS provide young Christian leaders with the opportunity to serve in a cross-cultural environment, develop leadership skills, strengthen their faith, and gain practical ministry experience. The partnership has enriched both organizations and strengthened the global fellowship within the IFES family.

As part of the exchange, selected young leaders from BSFB travel to Norway for a six-month internship with NKSS Laget. During their internship, participants become actively involved in student ministry, helping to make Jesus known among school and university students. They contribute to Bible studies, outreach programs, leadership development, and ministries among international students. Their unique cultural backgrounds, experiences, and testimonies bring diversity, encouragement, and a global perspective to the ministry in Norway while helping them grow personally, spiritually, and professionally.

The partnership is reciprocal. Young leaders from Norway also travel to Bangladesh to serve alongside BSFB staff and student leaders. During their internships, they participate in evangelism, discipleship, leadership training, student camps, Bible study groups, and community outreach. These experiences allow them to understand the realities of ministry in a different cultural setting while building meaningful relationships with students and churches across Bangladesh.

Before beginning their overseas placements and after completing their internships, all participants gather at Hald International School in Norway for orientation and debriefing. These gatherings bring together participants from several IFES movements around the world, creating a vibrant community where cultures meet, friendships are formed, and participants learn from one another. Inspired by Ephesians 3:18–19, the program helps young Christians experience the breadth and depth of Christ’s love through God’s global family.

The Students Exchange Program offers far more than international travel. It challenges participants to step outside their comfort zones, adapt to new cultures, develop empathy, improve communication skills, and deepen their dependence on God. Living and serving in another country broadens their worldview, strengthens their commitment to Christian service, and equips them to become effective leaders in their own contexts.

Ultimately, the Students Exchange Program reflects BSFB’s commitment to developing Christ-centered student leaders with a global vision. By connecting young people across cultures, the program strengthens international partnerships, encourages mutual learning, and inspires participants to faithfully fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples wherever God calls them to serve.
